Metallic Epoxy Floors in Carlsbad

Last updated: July 2026

We ground and poured a bronze metallic garage floor off Poinsettia Lane last month. The slab ran 620 square feet, and the homeowner parked two work trucks on it, so he wanted a surface that would hide tire scuffs and take a beating.

Carlsbad jobs are not the same as our inland pours. Salt air and a high water table near the coast push moisture up through the slab, and epoxy laid over a damp concrete floor will blister and peel inside a year. So we test first, every time.

What we check before we pour in Carlsbad

We run a calcium chloride moisture test and a relative humidity probe on the slab. Anything over 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet in 24 hours gets a moisture-mitigating primer before the base coat.

Then we diamond-grind the concrete to a CSP-2 profile. That opens the pores so the epoxy bonds mechanically instead of just sitting on top. Homes in La Costa and Aviara built in the 90s often have a sealer or paint on the garage slab, and that all has to come off with the grinder.

And we fill the cracks. Coastal slabs move a little with temperature swings, so we chase every crack with a rigid polyurea before the metallic goes down.

What a metallic epoxy floor costs in Carlsbad

Most of our Carlsbad metallic pours land between 6 and 12 dollars a square foot. A standard two-car garage around 400 to 450 square feet usually runs 3,200 to 4,800 dollars depending on how much prep the slab needs and whether you want a single color or a marbled two-tone.

Interior living-space pours cost more. They need finer grinding, more pigment work, and a polyaspartic topcoat that holds its clarity under UV from big west-facing windows.

How coastal humidity changes the schedule

Cure times stretch near the coast. On a 65-degree, damp morning in Carlsbad Village, our base coat needs closer to 24 hours before we broadcast the metallic, where an inland Escondido garage might be ready in 16. We watch the dew point and will not top-coat if the slab is sweating.

If your neighborhood has an HOA, check whether garage door photos or contractor parking need approval before we stage. Bressi Ranch and Calavera Hills associations have both asked us for a certificate of insurance on file.

We install epoxy across the county. You can read more about our process on our metallic epoxy floors page, see the rest of what we do in town on our Carlsbad flooring page, or get an estimate with slab photos and a rough square footage.

If we pour your garage in Carlsbad, we would appreciate a Google review that mentions the neighborhood and the color you picked. It helps other homeowners nearby find us.
